It Boils Down To Massive Action

Posted by

When I conduct workshops, I see most people taking copious notes. Some fill reams of paper in almost a verbatim fashion probably not intending to miss anything I say. Of late, I see people taking pictures of slides or information on flip charts. I guess the idea is for reference at a later stage with a view to taking action.

I observe the same behavior in church, seminars, and conferences.

What I always ask myself and those I manage to engage with is, out of the notes you have taken, what are the top 3 actions that you have prioritized? When will you take the action?

It is at this point when I realize that most people fall short when it comes to taking action. We are good at note-taking but fail to convert them into action.

This is equally true when it comes to books. It is good to read books, however, the knowledge gained from books is just information until it’s applied. Most people are caught in the vicious cycle of inaction but they want their lives to change. It all boils down to taking massive action if you want to see your life turning around.

This quote by Warren Buffet says it all, “the only question is whether you’re going to do it today or tomorrow. If you keep saying you’re going to do it tomorrow, you will never do it. You have to get on it today”

Get clarity: Why don’t you get on it today? Is it because the action you need to take is not important in relation to your goal? If so, get that clarity sorted and move on with massive speed. Getting clarity and taking massive action means taking charge of your life.

Do you need more information: This is another trap that I have seen with most people. They are perpetual consumers on information, seeking more instead of taking action. In most cases, the information you need is right there in your notes or it is something that you already know. Don’t fall into the trap of trying to get more of the same, just get into massive action with massive speed.

Accountability partner: Let it not be your own little secret, get someone you trust to be your soundboard. Align with someone who will tap you on the shoulder to remind you of your own commitment.

Become your own self-motivator and stand up for yourself.  I never miss the opportunity to ask the question, “what is that one action you wanted to take and 3 years later, you still haven’t taken it?  Is it that important? Why do you have it on your action list?  Your life will become better only if you take massive action with massive speed.
