In the sport of boxing, a fighter has a support team in his or her corner to assist during the bout. The corner man is a coach or trainer who guides and advises the fighter between rounds on how to approach the next round and what to do to realise victory. The cutman works on applying ice or adrenaline to stop the bleeding and reduce swelling. The corner man also fulfils the critical role of throwing in the towel when the fighter is in danger.
The question is, who do you have in your corner?
Life is not a straight line between two points, it is tough, scary and demanding. Before you know it, you lose hope because it seems like what you set your sights on will not work. As if that was not enough, you lose invaluable relationships and you want to blame your creator for turning his back against you. You meet a friend or partner from hell who swindles you out of your hard earned gains. The list goes on and on.
These things are bound to happen, but you will find it hard to face life and see the exciting side if you do not have the right people in your corner.
- Get a coach: you need someone to help you gain clarity and better insight into your life. As you go through the rounds of life, you need someone to help you realise the power within.
- A loyal best friend: this person has your best interest at heart. This is a person who will give you honest feedback no matter how hard it lands. They do so because they realise that telling you what you want to hear will not reduce the swelling. They help you let go when you seem to hold on to things that will never work in your life.
- An avid adventurer: you need a person who can spur you on to exciting experiences and new ideas. This person pushes you out of your comfort zone and helps you turn the impossible into possibilities. You need to learn from the words of Sanchit Khemani, who stated that, “never back out, fight until your last breath. You will find things falling into the right place. Stay determined and work hard”
You have what it takes to face life head on with the right people in your corner.
