5 Reasons Why You Should Have A Coach (And Accelerate Your Results)

Imagine for a moment, Real Madrid without a Zinedine Zidane as a coach? Who would Usain Bolt be without the services of a Glen Mills? Every big team or athlete out there hire the services of a coach to harness their strengths. Big corporate organisations use both internal and external coaches to have discernible effect on business-critical skills and ultimately improve productivity.

People from different walks of life – be they athletes, business executives, entrepreneurs, leaders in various facets of life; we need someone to help us discover our talents and  strengths and challenge us to be the best that we can be.

There is value in coaching as it catalyses our visions, dreams and aspirations into reality.  The coach’s role is to guide, facilitate and empower the coachee through powerful self-introspective questions while they navigate their way to reach their dreams.

What makes coaching more powerful is that coaching assumes that people are gifted with inner strengths.  Coaches use empowering questions to help others reach their inner wells to live richer and fulfilled lives.

This is the most important form of investment you can do for you future. Let us consider benefits of why people hire a person like me as a coach:

  1. Help the coachee gain clarity of their goals.

The coach does not define goals for the coachee. What he or she does is to help you gain clarity on what you want to achieve. Most people fail to achieve their goals because of this step which can easily be dismissed as the easiest. It is not, it is by far the most challenging step where success begins and ends depending on the clarity achieved or not.

2. Devise the plan to get there

Defining the goal and how to get there are two different things. The coach brings into the relationship, tools and techniques that will unlock your progress. These are techniques specific to the goals at hand instead of generic solutions that might not work for you. The coach guides you to come with a plan tailored for your circumstances.

3. Developing milestones to reach your goals

Even the most inspired person gets stuck in the busyness of life and run the risk of missing crucial steps towards their goals. The coach does not carry out actions for you, he or she is a great soundboard who keeps you accountable and committed.

4. Navigating and overcoming obstacles

There is never a smooth ride towards success. There will always be obstacles along the way. Some people give up at the first instance of what appears to be a bend on the road. The coach helps you to navigate both inner and outer obstacles.

5.  Finding that pot of gold

Coaching is about ensuring that the coachee reaches success and become fulfilled in their quest.  At the centre of the relationship is about the coachee, It is never about the coach. Coaches do this work because they care about the individuals and have a desire to maximise potential and general productivity of humanity.

I have reached my goals because of having had a coach in my life. All successful people do. Have one as well.
